pfctl -R and tables

hi ppl.
# pfctl -d
pfctl: pf not enabled
# pfctl -e -f /etc/pf.conf
pf enabled
where /etc/pf.conf says only:
table <xxx> { 192.168.1.1 }
pass all
# pfctl -t xxx -T show
pfctl: Table does not exist.
uhm... I modified my pf.conf:
table <xxx> persist { 192.168.1.1 }
pass all
.. then I reloaded my pf.conf with
# pfctl -Rf /etc/pf.conf
but...
# pfctl -t xxx -T show
pfctl: Table does not exist.
is this ok?
If I say
# pfctl -f /etc/pf.conf
it works properly.
